There is no shortage of rug inspiration on the internet. There is a real shortage of anyone telling you that a 5′×7′ under a queen bed leaves your feet on cold floor every morning, or that a 6′×9′ under a six-seat table means dragging a chair leg off the edge at every meal.
So every guide leads with the number, draws it to scale, and only then talks about how it will look. The diagrams are true scale drawings. You can hold a ruler to them.
